The third matchday of the UEFA Youth League provided an afternoon to remember for Como 1907. At Centro Sportivo Volontè in Rovello Porro, the BiancoBlu Youth side secured the club’s first-ever win in this European competition. Coach Falsini’s side managed to beat Manchester United 2-1 thanks to goals from Matteo Papaccioli and Matteo Albini.
The difference was made by the Lariani’s excellent start to the match, as they took the lead right at the 4-minute mark thanks to Papaccioli’s left-footed shot across the goal. A quarter of an hour later, Coach Falsini’s side doubled their lead thanks to Albini’s decisive run. In the second half, Manchester United pushed forward and equalised through Fletcher, then Como's goalkeeper Sgarbi made a big save from an opposition set-piece. In the closing minutes, Como 1907 remained in control of the game, securing a historic result.
Coach Falsini’s side now have 4 points in the Youth League table and will be back in action in Cagliari for Matchday 8 of Primavera 1. The match between Cagliari and Como 1907 is scheduled for Sunday 25 October at 11.00 at Stadietto Carlo Enrico Giulini.
