Napoli vs. Como: Match preview

Following the season opener, Como are preparing for the second Serie A fixture of the season this Sunday, with an evening match against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, kicking off at 18:30.

The Lariani will be looking to build on the point they earned in their 1–1 draw with Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium and put in another positive performance. Como will face a strong Napoli side coming off a 2–0 away win over Genoa on the opening day, with the hosts set to welcome the BiancoBlu in front of their home supporters.

Como 1907's Head Coach Cesc Fàbregas ahead of Udinese-Como:

"On Sunday, we will face Napoli, a mature and experienced side with plenty of top players and an identity forged over the years. They are a great example for us. Playing at the Maradona will be a real challenge, and we'll need to put in a great performance to try and pick up points.

"We've analysed the goal we conceded in Udine thoroughly, particularly our reaction after losing possession. We want to be an attacking side, ready to react immediately, but also capable of reading spaces and situations well. It's something we're working on very carefully".

Napoli

Napoli head into the second matchday of the league season looking to build on their opening-day victory at Marassi. Massimiliano Allegri is expected to name the same starting XI that featured against Genoa, with defensive solidity in front of Meret and Di Lorenzo and Spinazzola providing width from the flanks. In midfield, Lobotka's playmaking ability and Anguissa's dynamism will be key in supporting an attack led by Højlund and McTominay. Napoli will also have an extra weapon in Kevin De Bruyne, who was already instrumental in the opening fixture and could make a significant impact as the game progresses.

Head-to-head

There have been 37 official matches between Napoli and Como across Serie C, Serie B, Serie A and the Coppa Italia, with Napoli recording 21 wins and nine draws, while Como 1907 have won seven times.

The most recent fixture was a 0–0 draw at the Sinigaglia Stadium on matchday 35 of the 2025/26 Serie A season, on 2 May 2026. However, the last match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona took place on 10 February 2026 in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. The match ended in a 1–1 draw after ninety minutes (with goals from Baturina and Vergara), and was taken to a penalty shoot-out. Como prevailed to secure a historic semi-final berth, their first appearance in the competition in forty years.
